Learning Activity – Building a Mobile-Friendly Website
I decided to combine all the LA in one website that I make mobile friendly.
Set up a meeting with a business owner and ask him/her what he/she would want from a website. Also ask him/her what the business strategy is and how the website would fit into it.
I decided to talk to my friend that is a photographer about making a portfolio website for him. He wanted a simple website that portraits his work on the front page. He is looking to get more jobs with a professional looking website, but want the website to represent his style.
The website will attract companies and venues that need concert photos, as it’s mainly what he photographs. We talked back and forth and decided to keep the website simple, and modern so it would attract other type of clientele as well.
We also talked about what kind of hosting he wanted, and we agreed that it would be easy to use one.com and WordPress as the website builder. This way I have experience and would be able to help if he has any problems. Also, it lets you easily build the website mobile friendly. By using WordPress there are a lot of themes also, so the process of making the website and getting his content out will go faster. As I have some experience in Elementor I will also use this tool to make the website.
The target audience is mainly venues that hosts concerts, but also all type of client like wedding photos etc. He wants to expand his target audience and get more work and experiences. As we discussed, the website should not target one type of client but rather be simple and clean. This way his work would speak to the client that wants to work with him. The photographer says that he thinks a minimalistic website would portray his work better as the photos has a lot of colors, movement and are very “loud”.

The client provides photos for artist, but can provide a lot of different photo services.
What are their requirements?
The client wants a modern, and minimalistic website that showcases his work on the front page. He wants one contact page as well as a about page.
What is the website’s goal?
How are you going to achieve this goal?
As a designer I want to make a big collage showcasing hos work on the front page, and then have a simple contact and about page. I am going to work side by side with the client so he can have a say in the process.
Build the website architecture (so we can see what sections will be needed)
What is the design style that will be required?
The client wants a minimalistic look, and a plain colorpalette with mainly white and black.
What are your suggestions for marketing the site?
As he is active on social media, I would suggest marked the website on different social media. Also, I would suggest to send a link to all the local venues, and concert halls. He can also market himself on different facebooks groups, and try to find a local newspaper.
